Falls and fractures prevention in elderly

Falls cost the NHS billion each year, and is theforemost cause of death from injury among people aged 65 or older in England.
This course covers subjectson the signs, effects and responses of falls and fractures, from what causes a fall, the emotional and psychological effects, injuries, to what you can to do help lower the risk of falls and how to respond to a fall. The course discusses the risk factors for a fall, such as medical conditions and nutrition, footwear to environmental hazards.

  • The importance of assessing and addressing modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors for falling

  • Why it is vital to detect osteoporosis, or weakened bones
  • How to avoid or treat osteoporosis
  • The benefits of an individualised and multifactorial method to preventing falls
